Wow! Corbin and Lynley are five months old today. In just one more month they will be half a year old! I fully understand now why my parents and others who have kids always say it goes by so fast. It’s like you blink and they are on to the next thing! They have both reached some pretty big milestones this week.
Corbin weighs just under 13 pounds by my estimate. We’ll get his true weight next week at their appointment for their last round of RSV shots. He still wears size one diapers and 0-3 month clothes, although some are getting tight around his potbelly and hard to fit over his head. Lengthwise, they fit just right. We just bought lots of 3-6 months clothes with Nanner’s money and Nini’s! They’re all washed and ready to go when the time comes. Corbin received a new nickname this week, Mr. Cranky Pants, because he is teething! Yes, you read that correctly! Seems a bit early, right? But he’s been drooling like crazy for about a month and during the last week he’s been fussy and not wanting to eat. I kept checking his gums, but never saw any little tooth buds until Tuesday. Now, I cannot stop looking at them! He cries when I try to go near his mouth, so I know that I am right about teething. For a few days it was rough, but the past two days he’s been feeling better and actually eating more. I’ve tried to give him a cold wet rag to chew on, the teething ring, rubbing an ice cube on his gums, etc. He won’t do it, so I ended up rubbing a little baby Orajel on his gums even though everyone warns against these days. It was the only thing I could do at 3:00 a.m. for a screaming baby! Other than teething, my little guy has discovered his voice! He is the cutest thing. Lately, he would rather look around saying, “oh, oh, oh, who,” than go to sleep. He is right on the verge of laughing, and mommy and daddy are doing some pretty silly things to get him to do it! Tickling his tummy seems to make him happy and smiley. He is also trying so hard to roll from his back to his belly. We’re still working on mastering tummy to back, but if I give him a little kick start, he turns right over.
Miss Lynley Diann weighs about 10 and 1/2 pounds, maybe a little bit less. She has been doing much better with her reflux issues. We are getting real burps out of her and not just silent spitting. I hope this means that she is growing out of it. Most babies will by about 6 months, but sometimes it takes up to 10 months! Noooo!! Can you imagine orange and green and every color coming back up when she starts solids? Ewww. She wears size one diapers and 0-3 month clothes, but hers fit just right. She has become quite the little sleeper! I wonder where she gets that…. ๐ She slept 8 to 9 hours three nights in a row! However, Mr. CP only sleeps 6, so we end up waking her to eat after him so they keep the same schedule. (Hopefully, he starts sleeping longer soon!) Lynley wishes she knew how to sit up so bad! She isn’t sure what to think of the Bumbo, but can sit in it for a few minutes before getting tired. She likes to lean forward, so I guess that means she isn’t quite strong enough yet. She is also on the verge of laughing, and peek-a-boo still really makes her smile. She has become aware of her feet! She lifts them up to her face and just stares at them, and I’m pretty sure she’s going to start trying to eat them soon! And my favorite new thing Lynley does… she lunges for Mommy and Daddy! She knows us She doesn’t reach her arms out to us yet, but if Derrick is holding her, and I say “come to Mommy,” she moves toward me. She will do the same if I’m holding her and Derrick calls to her. It is the sweetest thing ever!
We are taking official five month and family photos this weekend, so keep an eye out next week for our new ones.
