Seriously? It’s been eight months already? I really can’t believe this, and can’t believe how far Corbin and Lynley have come since October 20, 2012. I was so scared when I went in to labor early at 31 weeks, and I expected my babies to have health problems and/or developmental delays. But they don’t. I praise God and thank Him every single day for this.
It truly is a miracle that, at 8 months old, my little, preemie Lynley is crawling and holding her own bottle! And my sweet Corbin is literally walking the Bright Starts Roundabout around the living room. I’m amazed by his strength. When you have preemies, you expect them to be developing on track for their adjusted age, which would be 6 months old. But Corbin and Lynley are keeping up with their peers on most gross motor skills. They act like 6 month olds when it comes to sleep and food though! We are just in awe of them.
Other things, my little squirts are up to…..
Lynley weighs 13 pounds and wears 3-6 month and 6 month clothes and size 3 diapers. She can hold her own bottle and eats two meals a day plus five 5 to 6 ounce bottles. She sleeps 11 hours a night, but naps have become a little difficult. She wakes after 30 to 45 minutes, and I’ve had to hold her several times to get her to stay asleep. Not napping is not an option, so my poison is holding her vs. dealing with cranky pants. I know, I need to stop. I will, but she needs me right now with all the changes she’s going through. She’s crawling! And practicing that all the time, even in her sleep. She is also still teething. I feel like a broken record when I say this, but still no teeth. She has become a little bit attached to me, and we are working on separation anxiety issues. This probably has something to do with the napping problem too. Other milestones: holds her own bottle, goes from crawl position to sit position and sits completely unassisted, makes t sounds, says dadada (Derrick believes she is saying Dada but I think she is just making a da sound randomly. I do encourage her to say dada though.) She loves watching Mommy sing silly songs, and when we play peek-a-boo, she pulls the cloth from her face and smiles so big when I say: there’s Lynley! Favorite thing she does currently, pulls her bottom lip in and says mmmmm, mmmm, and puts both feet in her mouth.
He walks this thing over to play with Lynley from across the room. |
Corbin weighs 16 pounds, wears size 3 diapers, some 3-6 month clothes, but mostly 6 month now. I think I am going to have to put him in his 6-9 month sleepers soon because he is becoming too long. He will also have to go up to size medium on his sleep sack soon. Corbin eats two meals a day plus five 6 to 6.5 ounce bottles. He tries to hold his bottle, but he would rather hold his toes while he eats! He sleeps 11 hours a night and naps like a champ unless his sister wakes him up. I’ve been separating them the past couple days, and that has helped. He still “swims” instead of crawls, but has started getting on all fours and rocking back and forth. He also goes into a bear crawl position with his legs straight, so I know that he will be crawling soon. He has always been a little babbler, but lately, he has been doing a screech noise. It’s hilarious. He also says mmmmm, mmmmm and sticks his tongue out. Also still teething, but I’m pretty sure his two bottom, front teeth are about to poke through. Favorite thing about Corbin currently, how he grabs my face so sweetly and looks right into my eyes. His sister is not so sweet about face grabs, she yanks on my nose! Corbin also loves to cuddle, and he is so warm! I also love his hair after a bath.
All Daddy’s babies playing. Lynley was exploring his hair and face! Notice Derrick’s grimace…. haha, she got him! |
You might be wondering where the usual monthly photos of the babies together are. Check back on Saturday! I am waiting to take a few with us all together for a special reason. Saturday, June 22nd is my 8th year as an ovarian cancer survivor!
