It’s been such a busy August, and my list of to-dos is getting harder to complete. Realistically, I know that I won’t get everything done that I want to before the babies arrive, but me being me, I tend to be impatient and want it all done now. The thing is, I have no energy, so I just want this pregnancy to slow down!
Last weekend was pretty hard on me physically because we drove to El Paso and back in 3 days. Talk about killer on my hips sitting that long in a vehicle, but I would do it all over again to see these happy faces.

I am so proud of my little brother, and very excited that he has found his wife. They had the cutest little wedding ceremony that was completely unique to their personalities, and I’m glad to have been a part of it. I can’t believe that the next time I see them, they’ll be meeting their niece and nephew. Eeek!
And all of that is happening in about three and a half months. See why I’m starting to get nervous!?! So, on to the 22 week update. The babies are doing great and growing so fast. I’m scared to say how much weight I’ve gained! It’s definitely stating to show in my face. Here’s a bare belly pic and a covered belly pic. We have definitely gone through a growth spurt! Babies each weighed one pound at our ultrasound last week! Everything is going well, and at this point I have no restrictions as far as work, exercise, etc. Praying things continue to progress wonderfully.
How far along? 22 weeks
Weight gain/loss: Up about 20 lbs. and 20 more to go. I’m not worried anymore about making that 40 pound weight gain goal! I just hope I don’t surpass it by too much.
Feeling: Tired much more often, and mild ankle swelling and back pain is settling in most evenings. I had some excruciating upper back and breast pain last week that I really thought I was going to end up in the ER. A massage from my wonderful hubby and a heating pad got me through the night, and a new supportive maternity bra has kept the pain away since. That’s my new piece of advice for all pregnant women, don’t listen to the idiots at the maternity stores who tell you it’s too soon to buy a maternity bra because you’ll just grow out of it. Yeah, you probably will, but you’ll fit back into it eventually after delivery. Getting fitted professionally and paying $80 for one that fits perfectly is worth every penny. (I can’t believe I admitted paying that much…)
Maternity clothes? Yes and not able to wear many of my pre-pregnancy clothes anymore. I still have a couple of dresses that fit, but they’re getting short.
Sleep: Still tossing and turning most of the night and getting up to use the bathroom even more.
Food cravings: Still Neapolitan ice cream and today, I’ve really wanted a chicken pot pie from Mimi’s Cafe. I know that’s really random, but it’s sooo good. I didn’t get it of course because that would require me to change out of my pj’s and put makeup on!
Movement? They are both moving like crazy. We are starting to see them on the outside of my belly. Baby girl is still much more active, and at our ultrasound last week she was trying to grab her brother’s umbilical cord through his sac. It was amazing to see her flexing her little hand, and of course she can’t get to it because there’s a barrier there, thank goodness! But I laugh because I can see their personalities already forming. She’s going to be a handful, and he just hangs out and ignores her already. This kind of sounds like a couple people I know….. not admitting which one takes after me 😉
Miss Lynley says hi mommy and daddy! She was being such a little ham. |
My new favorite picture and iPhone wallpaper: top right, Lynely’s booty on top of Corbin’s head, bottom right. |
Best moment this week: Seeing the babies at our ultrasound moving all around and seeing them kick my on the outside of my belly. I wish we had some good pictures of Corbin, but he really doesn’t cooperate during the ultrasounds. Probably because sister hogs the “camera”! Ha
What I’m looking forward to: This weekend my sister, mom and friends are helping me with some crafts for the nursery, and I can’t wait. The list is huge ladies, so I hope you’re prepared! This weekend is also the much anticipated cancer walk, where we’ll celebrate my 7 years of being ovarian cancer free and help to raise awareness.
