Happy Half-Birthday! Corbin & Lynley’s 18 month update

We celebrated Corbin and Lynley’s half-birthday on Easter, and just like every milestone, it just sneaked up on us! I thought the first year flew by, but this second year of life is going quicker. One day my babies were babies and the next, they’re becoming independent little kids! It’s mind-blowing how fast they develop, and I’m so excited to share all of the new things they’re doing with you guys.

Here are the stats:

Corbin weighs 23lbs, and is 32 inches tall. His head is still big and in the 85th percentile! Lots of good brain development :) His weight is in the 33rd percentile and height is in the 35th. I think that’s awesome for such preemie babies. I’m so proud of Corbin for all of his recent accomplishments. He always has this joy about him, and he is the sweetest little boy.

His milestones:
Recognizes people and objects in pictures and points to them when they’re named.
“Reads” to himself.
Identifies parts of the body, and loves pointing to Mommy’s “teef”. (eyes, nose, mouth, hair, hands, feet and belly button)
Self-feeds whole fruits, cereal bars and PB&J sandwiches.
Dances to music.
Follows along with television programs and imitates what he sees.
Understands directions and simple requests. (Doesn’t always listen!)
Recognizes and recites animal sounds when asked. (cat, dog, duck)
Throws a ball.
“Brushes” his teeth by himself and brushes his hair.
Beginning to show shyness.
Stacks blocks and builds with mega Legos.
Likes to hand things to others back and forth and practice saying thank you.
Scribbles with crayons and chalk.
Stands on tip toes.
Turns door handles and opens and closes doors.
Tries to help get dressed and clean up.

His favorites:
Pink Monkey.
Reading, especially, That’s Not My Truck and How Big is My Truck books.
Looking at, pointing at and practicing saying words in his 100 First Words picture book.
Building blocks.
Tickling everyone, even himself, and being tickled.
Rubber duckies, frogs and friends.
Bath time.
FOOD.
Wearing his sunglasses.
Playing chase.
Putting on his shoes.
Playing outside.

His vocabulary:
Tickle-tickle (favorite word)
Hi, bye-bye
Mama, Dada, sis
Woof-woof, tweet, quack, cat, bear, duck, baby
Truck, shoes, ball, book, eyes, nose, yellow
Thank you, no, no, see you, uh oh

Lynley weighs 21lbs, and is 31 inches tall. Her head is still big and in the 75th percentile! We have big brains in this family! Her weight is in the 28th percentile and height is in the 31st. She’s always going to be petite because I am, my mom is, my sister is, and so on. The only way that I can describe Lynley is- beautiful. She’s so aware of everything around her, and she is tenacious, determined and always on a mission. I’m proud of her independence, but I wish she would slow down a little bit!

Her milestones:
Recognizes people and objects in pictures and points to them when they’re named.
“Reads” to herself.
Identifies parts of the body, especially noses and picking them! (eyes, nose, mouth, hair, hands, feet and belly button)
Self-feeds whole fruits, cereal bars and PB&J sandwiches.
Dances to music.
Follows along with television programs and imitates what she sees.
Understands directions, and responds to simple questions. (Doesn’t always listen!)
Knows wrong from right, and gets her feelings hurt when she makes a mistake.
Recognizes and recites animal sounds when asked. (cat, dog, duck, bird) (makes a fish face and a rabbit face)
Throws a ball overhand.
Walks up and down stairs.
Beginning to show shyness.
Wants lots of attention.
Likes to hand things to others back and forth and practice saying thank you.
Scribbles with crayons and chalk.
Tries to help get dressed and undresses herself, especially her zip-up blanket.
Helps clean up.
Recognizes when she is peeing or pooing in her diaper.
Tries to count with Mommy- can say ‘two’ after mom says ‘one’.
Tries to sing along to her favorite television show theme songs.
Brushes her hair.

Her favorites:
Bear.
Reading, especially Sophie’s Busy Day and That’s not My Fairy books.
Dancing.
Climbing.
Stuffed animals and stacking rings or stacking cups.
Putting on her shoes.
Splashing in the bath.
Petting her dog, Jeep, and giving him hugs.
Playing hide and seek with Corbin.
Going down the slide.
Rocking and giving kisses to stuffed animals, baby dolls and people.
Patting her brother on the back and having her back patted.
