But it was kind of my fault! I have wanted to get our more lately with Lynley and Corbin because they are just so clingy and really need other social interaction. So when I received an email invite to check out a local MOM group, I jumped on the opportunity. The group was meeting just a few minutes away in another neighborhood nearby, so I thought it was perfect. I was wrong!
“We like it better at home anyway! Play date, schmay date!” |
The play group was at the pool, so that should’ve been my first clue it wasn’t going to go well. I can’t get in the pool with both babies by myself. They are a lot to handle on land taking off in different directions, but add water, and that would just be a disaster! Surely there would be other babies that couldn’t go in, I thought. Nope! Most of the children there were in the age range of 2 to 4, and some did have baby siblings. But those babies went in the pool. I was alone in the sun feeling kind of pathetic. A few moms did speak to me, but they were there to play, not sit in the corner.
“We’d rather play in our box!” |
I will try again, I guess. I pretty much have to if I want Lynley’s sun hat back. I was generous enough to let another baby wear it in the pool, since her mom had forgotten hers. I wasn’t going to spoil someone else’s fun, so I told the mom that we could meet up again and get the hat back. Eh, maybe we do, maybe we don’t. I don’t care. The hat cost $5 at Old Navy.

Oh, you hung in there and stayed longer than I would have. It was really nice of you to let another baby use your child’s hat. Keep your head up, sometimes it takes a few tries. Good Luck.

Thanks Amy! We will try again for sure.

Omg what a bummer of a day:( Hopefully play group will be on dry land and easier for you to manage next time:)

I’m hoping the lady in charge can pair me up with some moms who have babies the same age or at least under 2. We can’t keep up with toddlers!

Aw that sounds like a super disappointing experience. Finding mom friends is hard! Keep at it and good luck!

Thanks Julie! We have a group coming up with two other twin moms, so this should be the perfect group for us!

Yes, try again! We just had two great experiences. I am sure they will be other bad ones, but you’ll find the right friends eventually!

I am with you on the pool thing. Every nice day I want to get them to the pool. I just can’t handle a 10 month and 23 month old at the pool by myself. Both wanting to go a different direction and neither one can swim of course. Ugh. I’m right there with you. BTW, I am the same way with other children up in my children’s space and touching their things and trying to eat their things. We sound very similar. Glad your next play date went better.

I’m so glad there is someone else out there just as “crazy” as me! Too bad we don’t live near each other for play dates! I know that we would all get along.
